From Zero to One: China’s Solution to
Propel “Air Taxis” into the Future
EH216-S is both a passenger-carrying unmanned aircraft system and an electric vertical takeoff and landing (“eVTOL”) aircraft. People involved in Chinese civil aviation have navigated uncharted waters, moving from having no applicable airworthiness standards to issuing the world’s first type certificate for a passenger-carrying eVTOL unmanned aircraft system. This not only filled the gap in relevant airworthiness standards but also marked that China’s airworthiness certification for passenger-carrying eVTOL unmanned aircraft systems is at the forefront globally, contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to the development of global aviation.
